Could Ships affect weapons?

Often I find that there is a lack of diversity in the techniques used by ships because its hard to alter the ships such that weapons carried and maneuverability is enough to create a shift, so I have a new idea.

What if each ship got bonuses with weapons depending on their intention. My main thought was the rag. The rag is basically a missile platform, but its hard to use because the rag generally lack the maneuverability to be competitive. What I was thinking is that perhaps missile shot by rags should get a accuracy bonus, perhaps because the rag has a supplemental guidance computer on board. On the flip side perhaps other ships could have gun bonuses, so that guns aim better or more accurately (less spray). This is a largely unrefined idea. But in the real world, tanks and artillery have the same weapon (basically), but the technology that they have allows them to be implemented in very different ways. If something like this could help better define the roles of ships without disrupting the balance of the entire combat engine, I think that it would make the ships fit the pilots more often than they do now.

in a very abstract way this kind of makes sense. I'm not sure if it would be feasable to add or not however.

Like I said I wasn't sure how everything would work, I just feel that having ships add a bonus to weapons would allow the tatics to be more diverse since all of the weapons have to be shared. So now you might be able to dodge a missile in a head to head dogfight against a fighter like a vulture, but would have to make fast passes at a gun boat and outrun the missiles instead.

I'm really open to tweaking, but I think that making the roles of ship fulfilled in their weapons capabilities would be both realistic and important.

I think this is a good idea in general, as that would make it a bit easier for the devs to play with weapons
