Problems with rendering

Jul 01, 2010 drew.ditthardt link
I've got some issues with rendering on certain objects, it really only happens when I focus on a planet or sun or even a large asteroid with texture pre-loading on.

Basically what happens is it looks like the textures are being corrupted in the cache, with random pinks, greens, and blues and even random polygons flashing across my screen for an instant.

This situation has resulted in an access violation once.

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, with a pretty high end pc including a pair of SSDs connected to a hardware raid controller...I get 400 some odd mbytes per second to and from them.

Screen shots or it didn't happen! The default SS key is F12 I think, and they end up in yer vo directory.

[edit]

SSD's are useless in their current form, of course read speed is awesome, but write speed sucks, and they die if you write to them too much.

Your SSD information is outdated. The drives I have in this machine and have had in this machine for about a year now have a 4 million hour MTBF. That means that each sector on this drive can be constantly written to and erased for approximately 10,000 years before losing polarity, and therefore losing data. Not only that, but my read and write speeds are identical. I used HDTune to benchmark read/write speeds.

Thanks for the f12 tip, I'll take and post some screenshots momentarily.

Whenever I try to take a screenshot the game pauses for a moment, when it does that everything goes back to normal for a few seconds afterwards and then it starts wigging out again.

I'm gonna try to take video when I get back from vacation.
