Offset screen?

Jan 22, 2005 simondearsley link
Just started playing again after a month long break...

I usually run Vendetta at 1280x1024 on a 20in HP LCD with a native resolution of 1600x1200. For some reason, when I start the game, the screen is offset to the left about 50 pixels, giving me a black rectangle on the right side. I know the rest of the screen is there, because dialogue boxes are drawn off the screen and I can move my mouse off the screen too.

Switching to 1600x1200 fixes the problem, but when I switch back to 1280x1024, the problem happens again.

Specs:
P4 @ 3.2GHz, 1024mb 533mhz RAM, 128mb Radeon X600XT Pci-e, Windows XP Pro. Running latest ATI drivers.

Anyone else get this?

Does putting your desktop into 1280x1024 mode work fine? If so, what happens when you run VO at that point?

Hi Ray,

I think the problem may have been in my monitors auto-correct function. I noticed that after I switched modes to 1600x1200 then back to 1280x1024, the screen would be ok for a fraction of a second, then flick as the monitor auto-corrects, and the screen is then offset.

I managed to fix the problem yesterday by switching from analogue to DVI (should have been like this all along, but I was having an issue with the DVI connection for a while)

This could be the result of a bug in the latest ATI drivers (which I installed a week ago) or in the latest versions of vendetta, but I can't tell. As I said, I didn't play for a month or so.

Anyway, the problem is fixed now, so not to worry.

My monitor did this. When I pressed the "auto" button, it fixed itself, and it seems to have remembered everything okay.
