Vendetta Active Users Widget v2

This no longer works due to the changes to the active users page.

Well, after nearly two years of v1, which had a lot of problems when released, I have finally made and completed version 2. Version 2 is almost completely rewritten and should run better than the previous version. The two most noticeable changes are the addition of guild tags to the user list, and the sparkline graph in the lower left corner. Guild tags show the person's rank in the guild, a star () for commanders and two chevrons () for lieutenants. The sparkline graph gives you a general idea of the population over the last 16 hours. One feature you may not notice, is that the widget now tries to get the userlist from my personal website before it gives up. This will hopefully reduce how often the widget is unusable because the userlist server is down. Instead of momerath's Unaligned character showing up as Itani like in the old widget, he will now properly show up as an Unaligned character in a fourth nation column.
All of your old settings, and user friend/foe lists should work in the new version.

How to tell if the widget is unable to retrieve the userlist:

Unfortunately, simondearsly's suggestion of character information being available in the widget proved too difficult to implement because of how hard it is to get a user's id.

2.1 fixes an issue where new data points for the population graph would be much smaller than they should be, and an issue where sometimes the connection error window would show up but the content area would still be visible.
If you downloaded 2.1 and it doesn't seem to do anything, re-download it. I accidentally uploaded it with vanity mode left on.

Nice work, Lemming. You rock!

Awesome. I have a couple of suggestions though.

Every time I reload the widget, it resizes itself so I have to go and manually make it bigger. The old version didn't do this. It saved the last size I set it to even when I reloaded it.

Also, I'd like the option to put the guild tags after the name instead of before it. It makes more sense to have all the names line up for easy reading and have the additional information that's only available for certain characters to come after.

For some reason I cannot get the widget to work. All my other ones are working. any suggestions?

theratt10: What version of Mac OS are you running? The widget needs at least 10.4.3, but I haven't personally tried it on anything earlier than 10.5.2.

FatStrat85: I forgot to add the instance variables for size, which is why It doesn't preserve the size. I'll add that back, along with your guild tag suggestion, in the next version.

Awesome. Thank you, Lemming.

I am also not able to get it working. Running 10.4.11 right now.

Introducing v2.2! Download link updated in the first post. The widget should now work with all Mac OS versions at or better than 10.4.3.

Vendetta Active Users List - v2.2
- Fixed incompatibility with 10.4, extra commas in certain parts of the script caused a parse error.
- Added option for showing guild tags on the left or right side of a name.
- Widget instances now preserve size data, the widget should remain the same size you set it to through refreshes.

Sometimes the "cannot connect" dialog is not properly dismissed when your connection is restored. You can harmlessly dismiss it by clicking retry, or by using the command-r keystroke when the widget has focus to restart the widget.

Awesome. Thank you for responding so quick to my feedback. I love your widget.

Nice work Lemming!

First of all, thanks for the widget!
However, I'm running 10.5.3 and the widget will not leave the splash page.
Any ideas on how to make the widget go ahead and show the user list?

sfriedenberg: Try re-downloading the widget, or restarting your machine. When the widget tries to load, does anything appear in the Console application? (Found in the Utilities folder inside your Applications folder)

Happy to hear most everyone else is enjoying the widget. :)

It seems to be a growl problem, as the widget can't find the enablegrowl variable

Redownloading didn't work.

Anything else you need to solve the problem?

What version of Growl do you have?
Jun 07, 2008 Suicidal Lemming link
Based off the first few lines of the console stuff you pasted, it looks like you're using the old v1 of the widget. (There is no script in v2 that has a line 968) Be sure to use the the download link at the top of this thread.

thats weird, because the widget splash page itself says v2.2

although it could be I found the wrong console section...

I have growl version 1.3 it was just released actually
