Dual-Processor Macs

Jul 23, 2004 RattMann link
OK. Talk about a REAL wish:
Because so many Apple computers are dual processor machines, is there ANY
hope that the wonderful folks at Guild will make a version of Vendetta that will
utilize BOTH processors? PLEASE??????

The performance bottlenecks are more likely to be graphics card related, aren't they? I'm no expert, but that's my assumption. I also assume it would take a lot of extra time to make it dual-processor aware. But I don't really know.

Eventually.
I've been wanting to make a resource-loading thread to speed up sector loads.

never mind dual what about 64bit ??
Jul 27, 2004 raybondo link
Heh. 64bit mode won't make Vendetta any faster.
Altivec would though, but I don't want to have to make a separate app for G3 and G4/5.

Hmmm...G3? Wasn't Altivec introduced with the first G4s?
Jul 27, 2004 raybondo link
Yes, that's why I would need to have a non-Altivec version for G3 macs and an Altevec-enabled one for G4/5.

Cant you make like an Altivec patch or something?

PS i aint no programmer.

aah arent there 6 types of calculation in 3D games 3DFX took 2 and from on the GeForce 1 they took around 4, the other two could only be done by the CPU. Thats why Nintendo uses two CPU's in the new portable console ( also dual scrren :D ). Ok those are two different types of CPU's based on the same architechture but...

Dual support does increase game, they did a benchmarking test with the Quake engine on the 2ghz G5 when it came out. there was a signifficant increase. I saw it once on: barefeats

So like RattMann says: "Please", :D
