Does the joystick claibration screen work in Linux?

Dec 26, 2007 vardonx link
Trying to set the saturation and center dead zone points, but settings are never saved?

I click "Calibration" move the sliders, click OK and OK again, exiting back to VO. When I go back in those slider settings are back to where they were...all four dead in the center.

Linux is Suse 10 and joy stick is Saitek X52.

Any suggestions? I'd really like to change the sensitivty so huge stick throws are not required.

We'll look into it.

Death Fluffy: Interesting. Can you post a screenshot of that? I'd like to see that blue line problem and only seeing 2 of 4 bars.

wow, those screenshots are too small.
How did you make them? Did you use VO's /dump command or what?

in VO you can type /dump in the console. Try to move or make the console small when you do it so you don't obscure much.

Vo generates a png file inside the Vendetta Bundle.
You can then email me the images.

You can also hit t and type /dump in the chatline, which will keep the console from being in the way.

I just found out that the Linux joystick calibration functionality is not implemented. I disabled the calibration dialog for Linux until the functionality is implemented.

Any idea on when we might have a fix for it? Or any ideas on a workaround?

For me at least it makes using the J/S very hard to use, especially for PVP, due to the sensitivity issues.

We're researching it now. Calobration will probably be fixed in the next update.

Sorry to not let this go, but, how "Soon" might we expect this? :)

I still have an X52 that was bought specifically for VO sitting here useless except for flying around and shooting oruns...

I have some deadzone and saturation settings in my config file. Maybe try changing those manually.

Do they actually have any effect?

no clue!

Ok dev guys...time for my monthly "When will we have this" post....

Time again for the monthly pinch to move this thread along...

I know you dev guys are busy doing great stuff to improve the game, but perhaps we can steal a few hours of Ray's time for this during the coming month?

Anything that works a more appropriately than printf("NI\n"); would be a great help :)

Thanks!

You guys aren't going to believe this, but Ray added it to the client we're about to release. It's awesome.

hawt! looks like I can finally dump jscal

Thanks for the fix!

One small (and hopefully simple to implement) suggestion -
Hitting reset pushes all 4 of the sliders into the center. Shouldn't the "max" sliders go to the "maximum" position? The way it works right now, hitting reset renders the stick useless.

The "maximum" sliders should fix themselves if you roll the stick around once (and move all the throttles/etc all the way in both directions). The idea is that we don't know the full extents of your joystick and we determine them automatically as you use it.

Ah-ha, that makes sense. Works like a charm!
