Refresh rate changes only when exiting normally

I was unable to find any other references about this on the forum, so I believe it is new.

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 on a laptop that natively supports a resolution of 1280x800@51Hz. I also run VO at this resolution.

When I quit VO normally by clicking Quit/"Log off" on the main or options menus, it will set my resolution to 1280x800@50Hz. This causes my laptop to actually use a lower resolution and pan to the full 1280x800. I have to pull up the change resolution applet and set my refresh rate back to 51Hz, to correct this.

However, when I quit the game by pressing the 'l' key at the options menu, it instantly quits and leaves my resolution at 1280x800@51Hz. This is great, and exactly what I want it to do.

There is another difference that I have noticed between clicking the "Log off" button and pressing the hotkey for it('l'). When you click "Log off" in space, it will make you wait 30 seconds before it quits the game. If you press the hotkey, it quits the game instantly, but leaves your ship in space where it can still be destroyed (I assume for 30 seconds, to prevent cheating).

What is being done different in regards to the video settings when logging off in these ways? and why? Is there something I can do to resolve this on my end? Or is this something that the devs could quickly patch in the exit procedure for clicking Quit and "Log off" buttons by looking at the one used when pressing 'l' at the options screen?

Funky ..the hotkey and button do the same thing here. They both drop me to login prompt.

...after I installedt his latest update, I noticed they now work the same... and not in a good way... Now when I quit the game, I've gotta restart my display manager to fix the refresh rate. Changing it through the Screen Resolution app doesn't seem to fix it.

That's... strange. It should act the same either way. Are you sure the game isn't crashing or something? When it exits and leaves your display in a strange setting, see whether ~/.vendetta/errors.log says anything at the end.

It doesn't do this anymore, so I can't get an errors.log of it. It probably was crashing, since it quickly unloaded the game without adjusting my resolution just like it does if you kill the process. I used to do this even at the options menu from the login screen, where "Log off" isn't normally an option. Now, pressing L at that screen no longer has any effect.
