Hi all

FYI Just wanted to post my experience thus far

I downloaded to downloads which is the default download location on fresh install of ubuntu found in the home/downloads folder

-Then right click on the vendetta install file
-Then select properties
-then select the permissions tab
-then select the (execute) = Allow executing file as a program
-then close
-then click on the file and it will start the install
-then when prompted to create a bin folder select enter which is the default
-then when prompted select y to create bin folder
-basically select defaults and (y) for everything,

Then you can create a shortcut for the game on your desktop by going to the home/bin folder
-then right click on the vendetta and select create link
-then move that link to your desktop and you have a game.

-be sure that if you have crackly sound issues then edit the config.ini file

-you will have to select places/home then you can either hit ctrl+h or select view and show hidden files.
-then go to the .vendetta folder and you will see your config.ini file
-right click the file and open with gedit
-add this line exactly to the bottom of the file, then save the file
[alsa]
periodsize=1024

If that helps but you get too much lag then you have to play with some settings and try:
[alsa]
periodsize=512

or maybe even
[alsa]
periodsize=2048

But the 1024 should work as it did with mine
This also got rid of any freezups or lockup problem the game was causing me.

I hope this helps just FYI

If you have to create a big list of "Things To Do To Get The Native VO Client To Work On This Linux Distro" you might want to look into using a different Linux distro.

Here is how you install Vendetta on Linux

# sh ./vendetta-linux-x-installer.sh

It's very simple; there's no need to scare anyone off with long, complicated, superfluous procedures.

If sound does not work on your Linux distribution after performing the installation in that manner, your Linux distribution is broken and you need to find a different one.

landron,

Its actually not that simple. I've had the same sound issues Captain86 is trying to help other players with on three separate distro's. Ubuntu 9.10, Opensuse latest, and Mandriva latest. I believe this is because of a conflict between Vendetta and pulseaudio, because no other application on my pc has any issue on any distro.

You are 100% correct: it is a problem with pulseaudio. Any distro that ships with pulseaudio is broken, and needs to be replaced.

Well, the solution worked for me and other may like to know about it since I'm not going to be installing another distro anytime soon.

Perhaps I could dual boot so I wouldn't have to reload an otherwise completely working computer with exception of the alsa confi.ini file I've mentioned.

But anyhow it does work well now. And it's very simple too.

Simpler then re-loading and transfering my data thats for sure.
