[update update] This is all obsolete now, use the following: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/9/8425#97786

[update] Use this one: http://www.sheean-spoel.com/fonts/VendettaInput.html

http://www.sheean-spoel.com/GTS3.ttf
[3: the last 'GTS only' font]
[2.9.6: fixed a little bug with the 'welcome' pictogram]
[2.9.7: copied all the letters to the 'full width forms' section, maybe that caused the square boxes?; fixed the copyright section - it was based on Eldrad's layout and I forgot to remove the old copyright notice, hehe; renamed to 'GTS Pictograms' to prevent confusing it with older fonts and/or the written one]
http://www.sheean-spoel.com/GTS.sxw
[uses 'GTS Pictograms' now]

There we go, I transcribed GTS completely to ttf. Took me a nice 2 days ;)
It's basicly just like version 2, but with all the pictograms added, improved letters and more uniform sizes.

The sxw shows all the letters and pictogram and to what key they're binded.

I'll try to make a system where normal letter input and GTS input can be combined - maybe a keymap or something - but for now you will have to change fonts or try and make such a thing yourself.

Um. Can you make y the same as i please? Because I would prefer that (they're the same in GTS) than the current non-character...
Sep 17, 2004 Sheean link
Ehm if you type the 'y' you get the 'j'. Not the 'i', but certainly not a non-character. Maybe you didn't update your font properly?

Maybe they have a non US standard keyboard? Just a thought.
Sep 17, 2004 paedric link
And why do you have to type "y" to get "j". Doesn't it make more sense to type "j" to get the corresponding GTS letter equivilent "j"? I mean, why reinvent the wheel?

Bahahaha, Paedric hit this one right on the nose :-D.

All I know is that abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1234567890ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ gives a bunch of square boxes (non-letters)
Sep 18, 2004 Sheean link
Ehm, if you type 'j' you also get 'j' it's just that the letter 'y' isn't used so I make it give 'j' when you type that.
Roguelazer: That is very weird, you sure you installed this font properly? (try removing the old font too) And does the sxw display correctly?
Sep 18, 2004 paedric link
The font seems to work okay for me. For windows, if you drag and drop the .ttf file onto the c:\windows\fonts folder (or c:\winnt\fonts if Win2K), it should install it automagically.

I would suggest perhaps making "y" an "i" since it would be the likely phonetic equivalent. Don't just stick random characters in or you'll get gibberish out. Try to match unused letters with their phonetic equivalent.

Yeah, but 'y' can also be used as 'j' (like 'yeah' 'yes' etc..) so it sort of depends on how you see it.. you shouldn't be using the 'y' key with this font anyway :P

Hmm. After a restart, it works. Maybe it was just the old font fscking things up.

Hmm... jes, jeah, jou, jesterday, jahoo... In what language are we speaking of that "y" can be taken as "j"? Certainly not English. Spanish mayhaps? Or possibly 1337 5p34k? I still wish a complete alphabet had been created.

In Spanish the "J" has more of an "h" sound than "y"
Sep 18, 2004 paedric link
Aye, that it does. Swedish perhaps?

Yumping Yimminy!!!

yes, juvenile, jettison, yesterday, jelly, jacuzzi, yahoo, jabber, jet, you, jingle

Notice that they all start with the same sound?
Sep 19, 2004 roguelazer link
Not in English...Phoenetically, Ja-Ku-Ss-ee, Ya-hoo.

Maybe GTS is not a Romance language (from Latin)?

[quote=Sheean]yes, juvenile, jettison, yesterday, jelly, jacuzzi, yahoo, jabber, jet, you, jingle[/quote]

All kidding aside Sheean, unless you happen to live in Los Angeles or various parts of Texas, I can assure you that "y" (why) and "j" (jay) do NOT share a common sound in English. Don't get me wrong here. You did an outstanding job on that font. You put some time into it and it shows. Perhaps it would be best just to leave the unused characters blank.

EDIT: I was close with my earlier guess that it was Swedish. Sheean is in the Netherlands. That actually explains a couple of things about this discussion. Ja (yah) = yes.

I'm having trouble with that second link. I downloaded the .ZIP, extracted the .xml files, but when I try to open them, all I get is this error....
