The Makchuga presents the Slay the Juggernaut Event

I've had Joyce fiddle with this for the past two weeks, seems simple and easy to implement, so I'm putting it up here to make it official, get feedback, and get some people to sign up. So then, this is how it goes:

1. The event oragnizer picks a player to be the Juggernaut. The Juggernaut should be a player known for his mad PvP skillz, and of course, he has to agree to being the Juggernaut.

2. For the next two hours, the Juggernaut will engage other players in one-on-one combat. Duels or straight fights, it doesn't matter; the fight is to the death, as usual. The fights can occur anywhere, but tradition suggests they occur in B-8.

3. All ships and loadouts are permitted for both sides. The Juggernaut is allowed to rearm and repair between fights.

4. Whoever kills the Juggernaut within the time alloted will win 750k credits. If no one kills the Juggernaut by the end of the two hours, the Juggernaut earns 1 million credits. These set amounts are to discourage ganking and shady deals. Death of the Juggernaut or end of the time period means the event is over, but you could start it again with no problem.

5. As implied above, ganking is not allowed. The Juggernaut is also not supposed to avoid dying by hiding inside a station, logging or just plain running away.

I guess that's it in a nutshell; so far Shape, Niki and Solra Bizna have taken on the role of the Juggernaut, and only Solra has fallen to his challengers. This also means Joyce is 2.75 million credits poorer, but who cares?

You can see the event can be started pretty much at any time a willing fighter of good skill is around, and the time span can be adjusted. You'll also notice that the system can be abused by false claims and such, but so far everyone who's participated has done so with honor and respect for the event, which is aimed at being fun. People with little sense of honor or who don't have fun if they don't win need not apply.

So! comments, queries, suggestions, or someone willing to sign up as the next Juggernaut? Speak Up!

This event can be triggered by anyone (willing to part with the prize money) any time someone willing and able to be the Juggernaut is online. You don't have to wait for a Makchuga crewmember to be present!

Besides, the Makchuga crew's timeslot is from 4:00 PM to about 8:00 PM GMT, though one or two might remain ingame until much later, specially on the weekends. So if you're not in that timeslot, well, find some rich TGFT/EnB bastid and convince him to make with the dough!

Wow, amazed by the number of wimps that go "I'd do it if only so and so where not allowed", particularly when PROMJOCKS are the ones doing the whining. I have to note that no prior Juggernaut has made any such ridiculous requests, and they did just fine, thank you.

Ok, from now on, whenever Calder is online and in B8, the slay the Juggernaut event is in session. Assuming I do survive for a while, I might have to do my 2 hours in multiple shifts. Probably 4 days worth of half hour sessions. Would that be ok Joyce? Or do you need a third person timing...

jex, you misunderstand.

the purpose of the juggernaut is to keep fighting, and to take down as many pilots as they can in 2 hours. if it becomes an exercise in survival and survival alone, anyone can draw out a fight by making themselves impossible to hit.

if swarms come into the equation, a minimum of 2 and a half minutes of every fight will be spent turboing away from them.

which is boring. you may not agree, of course- but your flamebait effort is commendable.

Funny how you're teling me how the event I designed is supposed to work, promwhiner; you're precisely the type of person who needs not apply to this event, as we're looking for gutsy players confident enough to take on ANYTHING. If someone wants to swarm you, by all means take that two minutes to run away. Once the swarmer goes away to reload, you're free to declare victory and engage someone else. If the swarmer returns and attacks you while you're otherwise engaged, the kill won't count, as it was ganking; of course, you'll still have lost your pwecious pwom, and I'd bet that's what bothers you.

well, now youre just being rude.

the inevitability of someone bringing swarms into the fight is that time is "wasted" out of the two hours, since dodging them is pretty mindless. wouldnt you rather people fought for the whole time?

nice try, though. im not easy to goad into anything

lol this is too funny.

i hope you two can keep up this dialogue

Well, as a Juggernaut, you WANT the two hours to end without you dying, and if some moron with swarm forces you to run for two whole minutes (running being a very valid tactic to avoid swarms, you're not actually avoiding the fight) well then, that's a good thing!

Let's see, a swarm launcher usually has five shots; if you can play it right, you can use the swarmer to shave off ten whole minutes off, and then try and get some payback. Remember, as long as you don't die and are doing your best (within reason here, no one's talking about being suicidal) to engage the challengers, that million is yours at the end of the time period. If your challengers decide to have you doing some light exercise via swarming you, well, it's their loss.
