Do the devs use Macs?

We have a mac in the office. Nobody really uses it except to test vendetta or work around opengl bugs though.
And even so I mostly just ssh into the machine to build new versions.

Why would you want to use a mac if you can use a real computer instead? lol.

Post above = fire kindling.

andreas - A computer is a computer is a computer. Get over it.
Feb 19, 2004 roguelazer link
You recursed one to many times. A computer is a computer. However, a computer that is a computer is not a computer, because a computer is a device that either computes or emulates other devices, and if it's emulating itself, it isn't emulating another device.
Feb 19, 2004 haharich link
But if it's emulating a device emulating it'self, that WOULD be a computer being a different computer, being the same computer as the first computer.

Someone write a PowerPC emulator to run on windows and install it in virtual PC!
Feb 19, 2004 roguelazer link
Aah, but he didn't specify that it was running on a virtual machine. He simply said the word "computer", which would be therefore interpreted to mean that it was itself (quantum emulation?)
Feb 19, 2004 a1k0n link
According to the theory of universality, you can recurse as many times as you like, emulating a pentium with a cellular automata emulated by a turing machine emulated by a Cray supercomputer. It's still a computer.

Anyway, that's verging on being not just offtopic, but incredibly offtopic.
Feb 20, 2004 roguelazer link
Aah, but that's just a theory. According to the theory of nonrecursion, you can only recurse once or twice on Tuesdays until it becomes a non-computer, and actually becomes what it is emulating...

do my ZX Spectrum ( 16k version ) count ?

/me writes a PC emulator for the said spectrum and sells it to Microsoft.

And to bring it back on topic...

Could we include an infinite improbability drive into the game that would let you randomly jump anywhere to any system in the game, take up one large weapons slot, require a full capacitor, and cost about as much as a frigate?

Oh, and it should also give you a random hull, random load out, but always include a cargo hold full of rotten calimari, which you would have to pay an extrodinary amount for even a dockbot to unload from your ship (or just jettison it into space...).

Of course, such a device would require a mac to run, given the importance of floating-point calculations in infinite improbability. And I would expect that the mac would become either a Commodore 64 or Black Omega's ZX Spectrum after returning to normal space, which you could then sell to a Dentrasi history buff for the cost of removing the dead squid smell from your ship.

It should also randomly make sperm whales and pots of petunias.

And mushrooms, lil purple ones

This should be in suggestions, or maybe bugs...

Sadly, your drill's point broke off and got buried under talking flower pots.
