(a) Make all pilots who have taken the mission AND warped to C10 fair game. I.e. even if they run from the sector, they are still counted as "BP kills" if they are chased down and destroyed. OR make ALL pilots in Deneb BP targets

How would you handle a group having finished their mission, and all 8 of them jumping out to reload & get a new mission? I think that if the enemy who runs away has the mission, and is within 750m of the other guy when he jumps, it could count as a kill. One other thing that could work, is if the player has damaged the enemy more than 50%, then they get the "kill" credit when they run.

(c) Remove ALL trader bots from Deneb.
eh...just no more serco/itani bots wandering around through the wormholes, and remove serco traders from itani space altogether, and vice versa. Remember, the Itani need supplies to continue the war effort, so we'd still need the bots.

they had the BP mission and are in the system, so they are valid targets IF you can kill them.

If players choose to leave and you dont kill them, then you dont get credit for the kill. They finished thier task, why should you get rewarded for it??

now if a player /explodes or is killed by a bot after having taken a lot of damage from a player, then i can see that player getting credit for the kill.

Now we are getting some nice discussion going on (let us see how long we can stay on topic ;)).

@Harry :

Fair points.

I agree with Spellcast on your response to (a).

The /explode problem is more of a game mechanic issue that is probably best discussed elsewhere.

Take out Serco trader bots, and have Itani bots only travel to the 2 stations there. These trader bots can be made legitimate BP targets too.

I would also like to add that by making Deneb a real warzone, we increase *immersion*. In addition to other proposals, I would also suggest that

(a) Itani Station Bots are also legitimate BP targets
(b) Itani Trader Bots are legitimate BP targets (so the Serco may have to take the long road home, but they have some easy targets to compensate). If the devs can hack the CTC missions and put something equivalent here, we can even have a weekly competition where the Itani side try to resupply their stations...

This way, we suddenly get without much trouble, "Station Defense/Attack" and "Destroy/Escort Trader" missions for free!

the other problem with the "jumping out as a kill" is that it's completely open to exploitation. What if I had a friend simply jump in and out of the sector a bunch of times. Do I get a kill for each time he jumps out?

I hate double-posting this, but I want it to get seen, and I noticed we have a thread just for BP suggestions, so here are mine:

Some ideas:

1. When a group of players accepts the Invasion Mission and enters the sector they're invading, a Mission Bot message should go out to all defending players in that sector (and UIT hated by the invaders) that "the sector/station is under attack and all pilots must participate in defense of the Empire!" Each enemy player killed nets a reward (xp + cash). For the attackers, their goals could either be... disable part of the station, limiting buy options/repair/rearm options (ooh, that could interesting, you can dock there but not repair/rearm) or just destroy the docking bays, which would regenerate after time.

2. Yeah, I agree, make the Border Patrol mission just that. Mission bot: This is your patrol route, spend one minute in each sector: A-3, B-4, A-5, B-6, etc." The opposing side has a patrol route that overlaps. You're not quite sure what sector you'll meet the enemy in, but you will meet him! The mission should also require the group of players to stick together, not fan out and act like sensors. This could really encourage some wingman flying and coordinated assault tactics.

3A. In reference to adding a neutral station that can be "won": Keep the C-10 mission and call it something new (a third type of mission). How about: "An enemy engineer fleet has been discovered trying to rebuild Station [cool name]. Locate, engage, and destroy the fleet; then destroy the station so it cannot be rebuilt. The station will be completed in 15 minutes, so hurry pilot!" This mission would send you into a friendly system, where the enemy is trying to rebuild an old, dormant station to make attacks on your station. The target sector is randomly generated--you have to find it (maybe make it within so many sectors of the wormhole). When the old station is destroyed, the mission is successful. This gives Ragnaroks (heavy bombers) a mission designed just for them! Bring some fighters to provide cover and then pound away!

3B. On the other side of things. This mission requires you to rebuild a station (maybe the repair gun or something like that?) in an enemy sector to use as a staging platform against their station. If successful, it may lead to an Invasion Mission (see #1). Mission Bot: "Pilot, our reconnaissance has discovered an abandoned enemy station in [enemy sector]. Lead a fleet of engineers to rebuild the station. The mission is completed when the station is repaired." You have to defend the repair bots you initially set out with and fend off any opposing attackers. You may also act as an engineer yourself if you equip your ship with whatever they're using.
