Guild banks

Yes, I know about the nation-specific banking proposition at http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/8932#102819 but this is a slight twist on things...

A lot of guilds have created themselves a character whose purpose it to dump money in there for whatever futur needs of a guild. For example, there's the ELIT bank (or whatever it's name) that some Corvus guild had for a while. IDF has it's own "Vault" character.

Now, the issue with this is that those characters need to be created and logged-in in order to be useful in any way. Also, some kind of banking bot needs to be at the other end unless the character owner is connected and behind the helm.

Quite frankly, this is a hack that shouldn't have to exist. It's a royal pain in the neck to manage, and most of the time when we want to deposit or withdraw, the blank character is not logged in.

We need something really not complicated. About 5 commands would suffice:

/guild bank

This prints out summary of bank command just like /guild does for guild commands.

/guild bank balance

Prints our a member's balance in the build bank.

/guild bank deposit [amount]
/guild bank withdraw [amount]

These two deposit or withdraws amount credits from the member's account.
The commander and lieutenants should be able to withdraw any amount in the build bank. Because sometime, we will have SOMETHING to spend it on right? Like the proposed Border Patrol mission changes.

/guild bank operations

Lists a member's recent operations in the guild bank. The commander, Councils and Lieutenants would probably see every operations in the guild bank to monitor the bank's activities and make sure there isn't any fraudulent use of it (by the lieutenants or commander).

No need for a loan function for now but it would be interesting. For now, loans and donations are already done on a per-character basis.

actually i think that would be a great idea but.you are talkin about only being able to withdraw what u have put in right?

I think banks should give you interest for your investments.
I think that players should be able to have their own banks, not just guilds and/or nations/factions.

Banks can compete with interest rates, etc. Once the new economic system is in place.

I think that there should also be nation/guild/faction/player insurance. (NO, not like tumblemonster) REAL insurance. Once capships and stations come into play, having insurance to protect these investments would be kinda interesting.

But, yeah, implementing a simple guild bank would be super-easy, especially if there was no interest.

that would be good having insurance on cap ships "if they ever come out" but if they do make insurance on cap ships that would meen u would have to pay the "insurance company" a surtain balance of money ever so often.and i dont think anyone will want to that (at least i wouldnt)

I think that it would be profitable for large guilds and possibly VERY rich players to actually offer insurance.

But we'd need auto-withdrawls and banks before that.

Oh, and something valuable to insure.

yes.

Yes. Guild members can only withdraw what they put in. At any time.

Lieutenants and the guild Commander should be given more access (to complete access for commander) to funds.

The bounds of wich would probably need to be discussed. I'm not sure how this should go about. Lieutenants are there to help guild function while the commander is away.

This needs a bit more thoughts.

Just have daily withdrawl limits, which can be set per guildmember. Say, the Commander and LT's have basically unlimited usage of the funds. Councilmembers can withdrawl up to 500,000 cr per day. Normal members are limited to, say, 50,000 a day. (Kinda like ATM withdrawl limits)

Everything is logged, and deposits/withdrawls show up on guild chat just like invites/expulsions/etc. So nothing can be done in secret.

I think that a guild commander or elltee could be able to set a ceratin member's access to funds to be "X",something like:
/guild bank setlimit "LeberMac" 500

So I could only withdrawl 500 credits a day, overriding my usual Council capabilities. Since I'm so untrustworthy...

But I REALLY hate all this command-line crapola. I'm all for a web interface for guilds, part of the V-O website, that allows for voting, appointments, keep track of player's online time, last logins, guild BANK administration, etc...

I love command-line interfaces ;-p. I do think a web interface to various aspects of the game would be nice, and in-game the GUI should be available to those who prefer GUI over command-line, but I hope the command-line never gets taken away (fortunately, I doubt that it will).

I dont like the command line interface too much but having to leave VO for a web browser sucks even more.

I have often mentioned the need for full forums access WITHIN VO so we dont have to leave the game for messaging.

I wouldn't want to administer a guild (or characters) from the web. That'd just keep me out of game even longer.

If we want things done, though, I think we should start with simple banking. Let the loan + interest stuff for later.

...or, we could do it BOTH ways!

For the masochistic among us (Beo, Al), we can accomplish the task from within VO by typing out long strings of obtuse code, and many players would simply not try to use it since it was just too much hassle.

For us GUI-guys, we could create a web interface that would do the same thing while either offline or online and ingame. Same logs would happen.
