Neverwinter Nights, Anarchy Online, to name a few.

Andy, aren't you engaged or somesuch?
Aug 25, 2004 Pyro link
Nah, Mac users don't get many MMORPGs. I'm guessing that the companies take a look at the ROI, and decide it isn't worth it (even more so if they're using an existing engine). Gaming is probably the main reason to have a Windows box... :P

Well, whether or not you play, welcome to the forums sarahanne!
(^.^)
Aug 25, 2004 Katarn link
The reason why I play is because the game is always changing, and new things to find each time I return. Of course that's mostly a feature of the developement stage, its my favorite part about playing. I'm sure that's one of the things people look forward to when they return to Vendetta and see there's been an update.

That is what I find to be a very attractive part about being a tester.

Well I have played a lot of online games, the reason I am still here in this one is I like the community. Hopefully that does not change too much with the release. IMO no matter how good a game is if the community sucks so does the game. This is by far the best community I have seen ever.

I've stuck around because I respect the way the devs have interacted with the users. They've been attentive through all the twists and turns we've been through. Frankly, I'd be sick of us by now.

See this: http://www.geocities.com/logan9a/Developercycle.htm

It's a pretty good picture of how OTHER devs behave.
Aug 25, 2004 RelayeR link
You would, FM? Really?
Aug 25, 2004 Spellcast link
I'm sick of us and i'm one of the worst offenders. (see rambles posts in suggestions for proof)

:)

Seriously tho, What I like about vendetta is the incredible potential of the game. With no limits because of land size to the expansion of the game, (uhh duh its space) Anything the devs want to include can be added at a later date.

The fact that the game is playable on a totally individual level is another thing that i like. some MMORPG's are all but impossible to do well in unless you join a guild/have people to watch your back. Because of the way combat in vendetta works, I believe that there are more options for an individual.

What about the capture the flag and race course sectors?
Aug 25, 2004 RattMann link
I really miss the old CTF part. I never really understood why the race courses were
popular. (were they? Now that I think about it, lot's of peep talked about them, but whenever I was there, they were empty) But it's a big universe and there should be room for almost ANYTHING.

And folks, we need to be aware that there are a lot of people that play Vendetta from around the world. For many, English is a second or third language. 'Nuf said?
Aug 25, 2004 RelayeR link
Agreed, RattMan...mastery of the English language has not been achieved by very many Americans here either. :P BUT...
Forget CTF...there is potential here to take a system and convert it to a Disneyland of different activities from a CTF type game to a wild, ride-the-wackey-wormhole ride!
Anything that can be thought up could be possible...especially with the crowd we have here! :-)

The thrill of victory - WOW, Phoenix hit all 23 targets in under 30 seconds!!
The agony of defeat - Awww, "?" almost made it through that last ring of rail turrets with the flag...bummer.
Aug 25, 2004 sarahanne link
As long as the wacky-wormhole doesn't play 'It's A Small World' while you're flying through it. :)
Aug 25, 2004 RelayeR link
ROFLOL!!

I whole-heartedly agree!!

A theme park sector would be cool, but only if it was like 404 and you couldn't kill people. Otherwise it'd have griefers all over it.

1.What made CTF so good? The teamwork and group play?

2.What are the top 3 "features about Vendetta I like"?
Aug 26, 2004 thginkrej link
Regarding #1 - Definitely teamwork. When people were paying attention to the flag, it was next to impossible to steal it alone. I liked defense and running escort, personally, but it wasn't just about the game - it was about taking part in something large scale, even if it was over a silly glowing orb. There should be "campaign" scale missions that require the same level of teamwork as CTF. (yes, I'm stating the obvious.) Something organized until there are enough people for large scale PvP battles to happen on their own.. Maybe bot invasions - for a while, have a stream of bots warp into a sector trying to get something or destroy something.

Touching on #2, a large part of Vendetta should be about teamwork. Guilds, nations, factions, whatever, but it should be about working together. I think that will happen on its own when the universe is more populated, (Again with the obvious.) but it may take some outside prodding sometimes (ie. bot wars).
Aug 26, 2004 RattMann link
#1: Yes, teamwork, but also the "thrill" of sneaking in to "enemy" territory and grabbing something and trying to get away with it.

#2: Flying around in a full 3D environment was the first thing that captured my
interest. The fact that I could play on my Mac is a REAL biggie. The beautiful graphics is a major factor. Interacting with real people in the game is great, and
being able to "talk" with folks from around the world is great. The quality of game
play, whether with bots or people, is really good too.

I appreciate your answers. Of course Ray has told me about the game and tried to show me parts of the game play but I’m not a 1st person shooter kind of player.
I ask him questions all the time about the game and he patiently answers them. He is a bit busy these days so I suspect that’s why he had me sign up with my own account so I could ask someone else my questions.
Aug 26, 2004 danielky link
uh oh sarahanne, looks like your relationship's going downhill... :P

yeah, we'll answer your questions... right people? huh?

Maybe we should fool her so she'll go talk to Ray and say all this weird stuff and then (couldn't you see it) Ray saying, "What the crap are you talking about?"

Well, that's my off-topicness of the day, I'm through. Now, back to Vendetta:

#2-(I never did CTF when there was CTF, it always annoyed me because I sucked then) The things I like most about Vendetta (at its current state) are chat, chat, and chat. People on Vendetta (for now) aren't big jerks, and if there are enough people on, there's a lot of stuff to talk about what with the bugs, storms, storms, storms, and bots. This all should be straightened out soon, and PvP combat missions should be cool once there are more players. Also frigs and other large ships will be nice once they're released.
