(POS Suggestion 2) Pilots who are Pillar of Society should be be invulnerable from the station defenses and other pilots who are also POS.

There are not a lot of reasons to spend the time getting to POS. I suggest that those who are POS can’t take damage in monitored/guarded station sectors from station defenses (station guards, strike force, and turrets). RP wise, I’d say that the station applies a special shielding that is synced to the frequency of the friendly weapons fire. The same kind of special shielding that works Capital Systems.

Since this special shielding uses station resources , it is a resource that will only be applied to those who are POS. AND it will only work within 3k of the station.

To those who are on crystal, they will have to activate this special feature, in a similar way that gravity mines must be activated.

It could easily be an option to subscribe to, sort of like extra station storage is. Another use for credits.

Why would we want that? Why not fix the station guards, strike force, and turrets, so they're less likely to be abused to shoot the wrong people?

It seems like a strange hack to a avoid a problem that impacts a lot more than just PoS-types.

Fixing the station gaurds, strike force and turrets sounds like it would take more work.

There is also the issue of simple errant shots. With the SF having WTD's that spray sunflares with reckless abandon, and the aerna seekers with their large blast radius and high damage output, accidental damage WILL happen.

Let's not make assumptions about what "sounds like" it would take more work.

Fundamentally, I would rather solve an actual problem, instead of creating features that are intended to mitigate problems.

This isn't to say that PoS couldn't have some special benefits. But it does mean that perhaps we should discuss the issues that raises this particular problem, on its own merits, and try to solve those problem(s) separately.

That way the added gameplay impact of additional systems is less complex, more flexible to future adjustments, and more realistic.

If we truly have to do other gameplay workarounds for issues, then so be it. The point is, why not try fixing things properly, first. That would be best served by creating or reviving a (different) Suggestions thread that lays out the specific issues we're trying to solve here, rather than focusing simply on this possible solution.

This has been suggested before (and maybe reported as a bug). So i tried to thinkup a way to mitigate the problem without completely upending the gradient of safety you have implemented into the galaxy. There has been come grumbling in the playerbase due to abuse of sf and i figured i'd try my hand at it.

Apparently I failed with this suggestion. But I have another that might make much more sense.
