Valent Denial Turret [Player Property: Turret]

This is a small self-constructing turret intended for use in securing rich asteroids and other potential points of interest like spawned derelicts or unrat incursions. It has a limited lifespan as a result, and remains nearby its deployment zone instead of drifting. Valent created the designs for this particular turret, and is offered only to Valent's trusted individuals in exchange for part of the manufacturing costs.

Manufacture:
+800 Valent Standing
100k Credits
10 Power Regulators
5 Volatile Chemicals
4 Hull Panels
10 Plasma Cores
1 Advanced Targeting Systems
2 Cybernetics Grade FF
8 Plasteel
1 Guardian Processor Core
4 Artemis Porcessor Cores
20 Heliocene Ore
20 Lanthanic Ore

This is manufacturable [player property], and thus cannot be used in a nation's space without invoking that nation's wariness. It inherits the player's faction standing and enemy designations.

Deployment Addon:
Valent Denial Turret Constructor
Requires: Capital large port
Mass: 30kg
time to construction: 30s
constructor health: 5k armor
Single-use addon

Turret specs:
Hull: 50,000
Lifetime: 1 hour
Equipment:
1x Gauss Cannon III
1x Small Missile Launcher (Basically yellowjackets with infinite ammo and 30s delay; NPC only)
Loot table:
8x Scrap Metal
1x 25% Gauss III
1x 10% Artemis Core

Turret commands:
destruct: instantly times out the turret, scrapping itself.
attack <pilot name>: focus target the given pilot.
defend: normal targetting behavior
toggle: turns the turrets aggro on and off. when off, it only shoots after being shot at.
status: returns the turret's current health, target, and aggro state.

This follows my general player property design philosophy:
A player's property is any deployable object that is not a ship and is not a static construct (like the existing conquerable stations). It must be a destroyable object. This includes turrets, [pods], [cargo caches], and temporary constructs in a similar vein.

Property must be deployed from a capital vessel or some kind of future mechanic. In the case of a capital vessel, it is a single-use large port equipment that "drops" the constructor which builds the deployable. The constructor takes the form of a zone marked with pulsing caution lights, and has a timed component before the deployable is created. Once the time threshold is reached, the item to be deployed is spawned in the nearest valid empty space within 500m radius, or the unit is lost. Debris will be destroyed within the construction zone and does not invalidate space; this only impacts existing stations, static asteroids, player ships, and other constructs. The deployment zone itself can be destroyed if damaged by explosives.

All player-owned property will incur factional >dislike< if deployed in their monitored territory - other factions probably wouldn't want you deploying something in space they "own". This factional hit would be imposed until the offending property is removed from faction space (by force, if neccesary), or permanent if it remained in place for over fifteen minutes. This should enforce the precedent that player-owned deployable devices should not be deployed in or near monitored systems, unless your intention is to appear to be an encroaching aggressor and/or competitor. However, while aggression by more hotheaded NPCs may occur, the faction itself will simply be "wary" of you.

very nice idea in general! i personally, might suggest shifting a few things:
-add 4x Synth. Silkteel, 1x Basic Targeting System and 7x Hull Panels
-nake it manufacturable at Valent stations in Verasi and/or Nyrius
-only give permanent faction standing loss after full life time or if turrets kills that factions ships
-add patrol command: circle in 250m radius around spawn point (sort of act like a defense drone, with decreased weapons accuracy perhaps)

to conclude: +1, with merit

I'm not an experienced manufacturer; honestly, I just looked at a few items on the wiki and pulled things that _sounded_ appropriate, so revamping that is up to you kings :P

Sorry for asking but what is the purpose of this thing or scenario where it would be used? Does it just shoot anyone that tried to get close to something of intetest keeping other players from getting them, or am I misunderstanding?
I mean sounds cool, I'm prob just too stupid to understand the intent.

It behaves like a normal turret would towards things that are your enemies. its purpose is local area denial, and will have limited impact at range compared to a more permanent, heavier, harder to build turrets. Light and simple to construct is the means, and the goal is for protecting _small_ areas while the pilot does... whatever technical work he needs. Exploring the inside of derelicts, tracing an asteroid with mining beams, seeking lost treasure, or even just getting a bit of respite in dangerous territory.

I know Inc has previously removed measures that enabled afk SSS farming, any thoughts on how to make the turret not enable afk farming?

iirc, when an NPC kills a bot, the bot will not drop anything from its loot table that isn't guaranteed (scrap, usually); i'd just apply that to the turrets and any other form of automated combat systems.
