One thing I have to ask...is the $100k a realistic target? Even if every single reward between $15 and $250 is sold, that's only going to come out to $92,000. Once you start looking above the $250 price point, I wonder if the KS idea (investing $ without receiving equity in return) has much juice.

The Devs obviously know how their subscriber numbers look, so I hope it really is a doable target. Plus I really want the goodies ;)

Okay, I already have the Anniversary Edition Corvult, so... $25 it is, until we get down to the last few days and then we'll see if I need to kick in a little more... ;)
That's usually how these things end up...

GOOD LUCK Guild!

Thank you guys all so much.. for your support and good will and efforts on our behalf across the 'net, as well as your financial pledges. It's always incredible to see our community come together and pull for the game, and after some grinding 80-100 hours weeks to build and launch the KS, it's really been a fantastic and rejuvenating thing to see your response :).

As to whether the goals are realistic, time will tell. The intention with the limited tiers on the Kickstarter was to help drive interest through scarcity, and then create additional tiers as those fill up (which is allowed, and even recommended). That's why we have the "early supporter badge", which will not come with the future tiers, who will then get a different achievement ("crowdfunding supporter", but not "early"). So, tiers to support the goal aren't an issue. Whether we can actually get $100k in pledges? I don't know. It's what we need, realistically, to achieve the plan I've laid out (without some other influx of revenue). So, the number is what it is, and we'll do everything we can to make it happen.

Thanks again, and we greatly appreciate and need all your continued help on getting the word out and giving us the best possible chance on this. And on that note, I'm going to go work on the Newsletter now and try and get that out tonight to another 150,000+ people who follow our development, and see where that takes us..

Let's make this happen!

Crap, now I have to save up $10k to have an asteroid field named after me...

(Edit: backer #92! I might have to finally form [PM] Pirate Miners so I can make use of the Greyhound)

Gotcha. Hopefully it will all work out over the next month; 6% of goal on day 1 seems good. Could it have been set up such that the initial goal was for VO 1.9 in the $25k-$50 range and the iPad version goal would trigger at $100k?

Not.. really. You can make up whatever "stretch" goals you want, but the only thing that's a core motivator is making the first goal succeed so everyone gets their rewards. Kickstarter only tracks the one goal, and after that things usually slow down for most campaigns (although obviously there are big exceptions).

Plus, 1.9 is likely to be most of the cost in this case. It was/is my hope that one will feed the other. 1.9 will interest a lot of existing/past players, where the iPad thing might bring in people who have no previous awareness of the game. We'll see how that goes.

Yes! That's basically been Curt's next "training job", as far as taking on more complex assets and re-working textures. He's really coming along well, and I'm looking forward to our redoing more content.
