RULES:

1) As far as ships and weapons go, only two weapons are banned: Chaos Sawrm Missiles and Locust Swarm Missiles. This is done to recognize the "beep effect" in combat, ie scaring your opponent with all the target lockon alerts.

2) No running for obcene distances. This is subjective, but honestly,, I'll call it if you go out beyond 3,000 meters of anyone. This rule is flexible and bendable, but do not abuse it.

3) Once youy are dead, you are out. You may return to watch, but must announce this over sector comm.

4) Once you leave the sector you are out. This means no repairing at a station, no reloading and no jumping out to jump back in when your team wins.

5) The prize is two million credits, split among the qualifying survivors ONLY! If you have broken a rule above but have survived, don't expect to get credits.

6) The Nation War Event takes place in Sedina D-2 at the time of 11pm GMT on Sundays between three teams, each team representing a nation.

7) Team leaders are participants in the event, who represent their team when I speak to them. I expect them to be honest.

8) Things may change due to unavoidable circumstances. Always follow the instructions of Blue Streak or Erik C. , whichever one of my alts run the event (Usually the former)

Okie dokie. Rules will be changed as necessary. And, oh, always have fun. :)

I thought you scrapped the idea of B8?

Oops, thanks. I edited it to correct the location mistake.

I will attend. Dibs on the team leader post.

I will most likely attend as well ^^ eventually we will have to hold these nation war events with several groups once inc makes the marketing push, and that will make it even more fun ^^

anyone thinking about 48 PVP madness ^^

I will be there and I want the UIT team leader post again.

If we get to the point of a 48 person pvp, I think that it should still be three teams. All out war. I'm actually looking forward to it.

I'm out because of the Monday-at-8am thing, but thanks for the forewarning. ^^;

Hmm, not going to be able to make it. Might have been fun to bring victory to the UIT again like the first two times this event ran.

Okay, write up time. After I signalled go, the three groups mashed together around the same time. Almost immediately, everyone started to complain of the lag caused by thirty people in a furball, many with ordnance. Ghost took over leading the team into battle, effectively calling out targets. Everyone listened to his advice of all six of us targetting one target at a time. This was so effective that before I could even get shots in, the target had been destroyed. This continued, our team going after the Rags and then the Proms, of which there were three or four.

We broke off and startd engaging targets. I went after spuck and his Taur because I've seen what Taurs can do in combat against light ships, which we itani tend to lean towards. I was taken out from behind by Cobalt314. I came back and viewed as much as I could as a referee (before being taken down by a contestant or two by accident). I came back again to see many spectators but only three serco, two itani and two UIT left. Ghost fell along with toshiro. Essena came down soon after, eliminating all the itani. auouymous and John Rambler were left to fight KillyaMike, Cobalt314 and Alundra Odaio. Soon, Cobalt and John fell, one after the other. auouymous fought bravely on but he was outnumbered and already heavily damaged. Congratulations to the Serco, specifically Alundra Odaio and KillyaMike! They each recieved one million credits each for their bravery and skill in battle (and surviving through it all).

First off, tons of fun. Thanks to all who who came. I hope many more events like this occur.

Secnd off, This isn't necessary, but I would like to increase the prize to four million credits. To do this, though, I need backing. I will still pay the normal two million credits out of the prize. If anyone would like to support this great event, please contact me ingame.

Thirdly, thanks to an anonymous person for the random Trident sighting. Never can get tired of seeing that ship flying around :)

Finally, this isn't a rule per se, but... I got shot (and blown up) by two different particpants still fighting. And I wasn't the only one. My suggestion is to come in with a moth. If not, please try to understand if you get shot at otherwise.

Always fun, if hectic. Score now is Two UIT, Two itani and Three Serco.

Your beleaguered, but happy host

Great event Eric ^^ we havent broken 60 players in months, closest was 58 awhile back.

Damn you people! always running these events when I can't be online! :'(
Mar 05, 2006 moldyman link
I'd be willing to run an event on Fridays as well, probably same time (11pm GMT), but I need guild backing. I'm fine with making two milion a week for the event, but four million takes up a few hours for me.
Mar 05, 2006 Ghost link
Heh, gf all. There needs to be a better way to issue commands in combat than my chat binds. I'm flying around trying to call targets and such, I never actually get to do much fighting.
Mar 05, 2006 Screwball link
That was a lot of fun. UIT picked the same strategy of "all against one". Regarding coordinating a group in a furball, yeah that's tough. I led a small group that tried picking our first three targets in advance, but that broke down quickly.

Some suggestions for the Devs:

1) Make the maximum group size larger, say 16. Neither the UIT nor Serco could coordinate all players via a single group. The current group size limit of 8 is also hampering large convoys, announcing for The Deneb Run, etc.

2) Integrate Teamspeak with the client, or at least host a server available to players, and offer channels for:

-General
-Nation
-Guild
-Group
-Special Events
Mar 05, 2006 Ghost link
Ooo, integrated teamspeak would be cool. Put it up in suggestions?
Mar 05, 2006 Harry Seldon link
Already been suggested, deemed too much trouble or something.

meh i wasnt there :(

I'll repeat what I said in sector chat after the war event:

The server obviously doesn't like this many people in one single sector. I am still wondering what it will belike when there's actually masses of players on.

The TeamSpeak server should be a different machine, dedicated to that purpose.

Other than that: Great battle! I'll be sure to hang out again next time, and to survive this time (but I took 2 with me...).

If it can work on counter strike it has to be able to work on vendetta!
Mar 06, 2006 LeberMac link
Yeah, didn't starfreeze put up another TS server for us? I have not tried it for about 2 months...

I'll try it again tonight if I can.

Anyway, all of this will be "moot" when the kickass "Homeworld2-Style" Command & Control interface gets implemented...
