I can't remember ever killing a newb as a pirate.

I have flown into nation space to shoot a noob who was being offensive but I wasn't doing that as a pirate.

If anyone can refresh my memory of a newb I've killed while pirating please refresh my memory.

I do remember a recent newb kill though that wasn't mine. BUDGIE flew into Sedina B8 in the middle of a major war so I lent him 10000 credits and escorted him through the action after he got PK'd. He was homed at Sedina D14. I also told him all about the hazards of grey space and suggested he stay in UIT space till he levelled up a bit.

I can say that piracy hardly ever occurs in nation space. There's no reason for it. I also don't know of anyone who actively hunts newbs.

I wasn't trying to insult you martin nor offend you, just trying to get th epoint across that balance takes some time to be achieved and that some things look bigger and better in the beginning then they are. Like I stated, I know that the centaur was to powerfull in its beginning. I however did not want it to get nerfed (which like you so eloquently stated) happened.

I just want a big trader ship that is able to soak up the damage inflicted by smaller crafts just like a marauder as a light light transporter is able to outdodge the damage inflicted on it. But at least just as good, for a special centaur that is. Compare the ability to dodge of an atlas or wraith to the ability to soak up damage in a normal centaur. That is all. However, as it stood the centaur was only good as a get in alive get out with flowers and an evaporised body. And you can only achieve this by not jumping the bullet and getting a ship once again nerfed just since a couple people fear that no other ships are going to be used. Please for the heavy ships make the adjustment for the lack in agility not the increased cargocapacity.

And if you do want to make a centaur only good for safe passage trading, then make it somekind of a bulktrader with supreme cargopotential (like 150) so you can easilly afford without any real cutting in the profits of hiring a couple of escorts.

cheers

PS: I would have made the same remarks if I was playing. My posting history shouldhave made that evident.

dbr066: "I think that as the threads persist we are losing the point of noobs being Pirate fodder."

That wasn't the point of this thread. I started the thread with a post about how if there weren't any player pirates, the devs would have to implement npc ones to make trading fun. Trade is boring without any challenge.

And I never got pirated before I had some levels. Well, once with chewyofborg, but he was in a rag and I was in I think a warthog and it was a hell of a good chase across several systems. But I had been playing for several weeks and could have stood a chance of defending myself.

My other experiences with pirates have always ended in a polite handshake and a "Great fight! Want to go again?"

personally, i love pirates. i think they're one of the best things about the game. i was actually disappointed to find out how safe grey space actually was.

my only pirate encounters: shape killed me once in sedina B-8 while i was fighting phoenix or somebody, and a couple times martin.mac.au tried to pirate me but i got away pretty easily. some time later, i attacked martin at sedina B8, we fought for a while, and then he jumped away. i think he was trading.

grey space is dangerous, home space is safe, and things are right with the universe.

Yeah I was trading hronek. Damn guild missions are too tempting. :D

I'll be happy to fight you again some day.
