The Battery Drain Concept

Jan 18, 2005 Solra Bizna link
The fundamental thing everyone is missing here: Turbo is NOT meant to be a "normal" method of transit. You're saying (as far as drain), to use your modern jet fighter metaphors, that the F-16 should be able to fly on afterburners for six hours without losing any extra fuel? Or that batteries should not matter at all?
The whole point of having batteries as they are now is that you have to WATCH your energy usage. You can't simply fire mindlessly and turbo every 10 seconds. You must be CAREFUL, conserve your shots, hit most of the time, and don't simply "spray" fire.
Currently, only the Ragnarok and Hornet are unusable with the current battery capacity and recharge. All other ships are fine IMO.
Also...please read the "Read Before Posting a Suggestion" thread, almost everything in your post is mentioned.

if you take a look at this post:

http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/7692

it contains a list of suggestions that have been done to death. among them are crafting and gadget slots, which is pretty much what your post is all about. :)

I can see what Intimidator is talking about as far as battery useage goes.

For example, if I take a ship and put a Heavy Duty battery in it, then drive up to a wormhole, and my battery is slightly discharged, I get the message that it takes a full battery charge to wormhole. A Heavy Duty battery charges up to something like 550 units.

Then, I take the same ship, and put a smaller battery in it, one that only has 350 units of charge, and arrive at the same wormhole, with a less than fully charged battery, I get the same message that I need a full charge to jump through the wormhole.

So... what does it take to jump through a wormhole 550 units of charge or 350 units of charge? I would think that in terms of game "balance" jumping through a wormhole would take X amount of energy, regardless of the size of battery involved.

Just my two cents... thanks for your opinions, and Regards...
